Time to clear the air

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a fiery blog about a certain comment, made by my daughter's teacher. From the mouth of my daughter, her teacher commented on my age. If you read that blog, certainly you'll remember. Well, on Friday, the situation was finally resolved. I confronted her.

According, to Ms X, she NEVER made that comment and would NEVER make such a comment. Of course, I believe her. We swapped "aging" issues and laughed a bit about the situation. I apologized for thinking she was capable of the comment and for stressing her out. (I had emailed to set up a time for a "chat" about an "incident" in class. That freaked her out a bit.)

But.....

The question remains where did this come from? My Daughter gave me a couple of names, but I have decided to put the issue to bed.

The things I learned from this situation?
Kids don't make good star witnesses.
I should address such issues before three months pass.
It is easy to make the testimony of a child into a witch hunt.
Using the internet to vent my feelings, takes gossiping to a whole new level.

So, I will do better next time......

The honesty of little girls

Good thing we have daughters.....otherwise how would we know truth?

Sadie has been concerned about the appearance of moles on her face. Recently we started calling them "beauty marks." I pointed out to her, that I have several and I find them quite attractive. Also, there are people who paint them on their face on purpose, because they are so cute.

During church on Sunday, Sadie drew a picture of me. To further underscore our recent discussions on moles, I instructed Sadie to "include my beauty marks" on the portrait. She did. Then she continued to make tiny dots all over my two dimensional nose. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"You have tons of black dots all over your nose. I need to make those too. Ohh....and I forgot the hairs on your arms....."

I guess the lesson was learned. Maybe I need a reminder or two though......

Any suggestions on a pleasant way to rename "blackheads?"

The kids have been saying the funniest things lately. I am writing them down to read on those hard, not-so-cute days. Some of the comments I posted on facebook, so you might recognize them.

Taylor: "Mom can I play Micah's DS?"
Me: "No Taylor, you have played enough video games today."
Taylor: "But, Why mom?"
Me: "It is time to play in the toy room."
Taylor (as his face brightens): "Okay, mom I can do that. I will play the DS in the toy room."

Micah I had a conversation about his teacher getting mad.
Micah: "Oh she NEVER yells. She just has one of those quiet, gentle voices that make you feel guilty."

Sadie and I talking about her Kindergarten teacher
Sadie: "All that Ms. B does all day is micromanage us. Then we go outside for recess and micromanage each other."
I don't think I knew what micromanaging meant at 6.......

Taylor; "Why do we call the bathroom 'bathroom,' there is no bath in there? I am going to call it the potty room."

While cleaning her play kitchen, Sadie stacked the pots and pans in the toy sink and sighed, "the dishes are piling up, mom..... but I am going to put them off until morning." Ahh...the burdens of make-believe.
As I informed the kids what our plan was for the day (going to the dentist), Taylor perked up, "is that where we feed the animals?" Sorry Taylor, it is not.....
