The Score
Nic gave me permission to write on her blog, so for my first post I would like to enlighten readers that she is losing. To date, I have received approximately 4 speeding tickets and she has had 1 that we have paid. We're pretty sure she has 1-2 more coming in the mail and I have probably two more. Now here's the issue: the police don't pull us over. There are little cameras all over that take pictures... you get "blitzed". I have many expensive pictures of me in my car and Nic has a particularly good one with a scowl on her face. Priceless... ok, not priceless, it cost us 25 Euro each. Needless to say, I feel good that we are doing our part to improve the German economy, increase Polizei salaries, and give those little roadside cameras a sense of purpose and meaning. I feel like a dumb B.F Skinner rat that just isn't negotiating the maze very well.

Oh dear... How annoying is that. Do they get you for going just over or do they allow for a few extra Km?
I thought there were no speed limits in Germany and that's why it was great. That's really lame they get to charge you without having to do any real work. Do you at least get to send them a credit card so you don't have to do much work either? I'm amazed they're not at that point--requiring you to put your credit card on the dashboard so they can just charge you.
Hi Greg! Great first post. It's too bad they don't pull you over. It's always fun trying to talk yourself out of a ticket. All is well in California! Take care.
That's what we have in Arizona too! There are speed cameras all over on the freeways now and they just snap your picture and later the ticket comes in the mail. I think they are $125 each could be more. People are very angry over them.
That's crazy! I guess it's time to slow down or start smiling pretty for the camera!
I hate tickets in the mail. Lame.
On the bright side, it shouldn't effect your insurance rates in the US when you get back right? I got in an accident in France but I had a 'clean' record when we moved back.
LAME ... those cameras ought to be shot out by every bee-bee-gun wielding teenager around!
